Outreach Service Project: Grace Centers of Hope House Rehab Project
On Saturdays, June 16 & 23, 2012, several North Hillians worked alongside brothers and sisters from Beautiful Savior Lutheran, St. Stephens Episcopal, and one or two other churches to rehab a large house in Pontiac to be used by Grace Centers of Hope. Walls were patched up and painted, floors were readied for new carpet, broken glass was removed from windows, window sills and frames were scraped and repainted, the exterior siding was removed, old wood siding was scraped, a new kitchen was installed, the yard was cleaned up, and much more. Everyone was excited to see this old house become beautiful once again. "It was like being a part of an Extreme Home Makeover event ourselves. With 40 or more people working at once, you could see a room one hour, and an hour later it would be completely transformed," Peggy Boulton exclaimed. Others found it very rewarding working side by side with and hearing the stories of some of the women who will be living in the house. And the Men of Grace blessed everyone during the devotional time at lunch with their songs of praise.
